It’s the tournament that never ends.
Seriously, organizers hope the 21st annual Molson Swing Into Summer intermediate softball tourney finishes up Wednesday at Lions Park in St. John’s after experiencing several weather-related delays.
A champion was supposed to have been determined a week ago today, but wet weather has led to a number of postponements, the latest on Saturday, when the final four games were to have been played.
Instead, they’ll look to get in two games tonight, including an 8 p.m,. matchup between the defending champion Lafontaine Club of Placentia and the Chayee Bourass NL Selects, both at 2-0 in the double knockout event. The winner advances to the tournament final, set for 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the loser taking a second life into the lead-up semifinal, also Wednesday.
The other semifinalist will be the winner of this evening’s first game, between Conception Bay Central Junior Canadians and Sportscraft Waterford Valley, both 2-1.
