Tibbs takes title at first-ever NBT Challenge

Brandon Tibbs won the singles title at the inaugural NBT Challenge five-pin bowling tournament over the weekend as one of 170 of the top bowlers in the province took part in two days of competition.

At Plaza Bowl in St. John’s, over $11,000 in prize money was awarded in the Challenge presented by Body Quest.

Tibbs, who is from Goulds, qualified eighth overall to make the playoff round, which included the top 24 qualifiers. After advancing through a bracket-style playoff format, Tibbs bested Ray Dunphy in the final.

In the team event, Dave Hann Jr, Kelley Hann and Sean Mackey were victorious outlasting 31 other entries for the win.
