Impact Signs from St. John’s thumped the Curling Rangers 10-0 in four innings to win the Molson provincial women’s fastpitch softball championship Sunday in Corner Brook.
The provincials featured four teams — Impact Signs and three Corner Brook-based teams, the Curling Rangers, Whelan’s Gate and Rapid Power Bees.
In the final, Jenna Connolly (4IP, 0R, 4H, 3BB, 5K) pitched the win over Donna Clarke (3.1IP, 10R, 11H, 2BB, 4K).
Player of the game Victoria Davis led the winners with a three-for-three day at the plate, with two doubles and three RBIs. Abigale Gambin collected two hits.
Clarke was Curling’s player of the game.
In semifinal play, Impact trimmed the Bees 17-5, while Curling outscored Whean’s Gate 14-13.
Impact was 3-0 in the round-robin, while Curling was 2-1, and Whelan’s Gate was 1-2. The Bees were 0-3.
Reagan Myers of Impact was the MVP, going seven-for-14 at the plate and 2-0 on the mound. The top batter was Curling’s Karen Bolger with a .571 average, while Clarke was the top pitcher at 3-2.
