Jack Daly, a 6-4 Grade 12 student at Gonzaga high school in St. John’s, has signed a letter of intent to play varsity volleyball at the Université of Laval in Quebec City next year.
The Rouge Et Or is one of the top men’s volleyball programs in U Sports, the governing body for Canadian university sports, having won four national championships. Laval’s latest Canadian title came in 2013.
Currently, Laval is ranked sixth in the country.
Daly, 17, played middle for the province’s Canada Games team last summer in Winnipeg. He has also played on previous provincial teams, from U14 to U17, winning all-star honours and MVP awards along the way.
