Newfoundland and Labrador will be represented by a six-member team at the 2018 Skate Canada Challenge beginning next week in Perrefonds, Que.

The athletes earned their berths as a result of their performances at the recent Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador sectional championships at the Glacier in Mount Pearl.

The six are Ashley Morgan of the Mount Pearl-Paradise Skating Club in the senior women’s division, Jenna Efford of the Conception Bay North Skating Club and Hannah Robertson of the Stephenville Skating Club in the novice women’s category, and Elin Maskova of the Prince of Wales Skating Club in St. John’s and Caylie Rose Blake and Rebecca Bennett, both of Corner Brook’s Silver Blades Skating Club, all in pre-novice women

They’ll be among 500 athletes from across the country who have qualified through sectional championships, which are used to identify skaters for advancement to the next round of qualifying events, ultimately leading to the Canadian figure skating championships.
