Games in the Group Stage of World Cup of Soccer are over and it’s on to the Round of 16 at the event being held throughout Russia.

There were 48 games played in the opening round, and the general consensus is the best contest of the lot was the match between Portugal and Spain, which was played at Sochi and ended in a 3-3 tie.

Among those taking in that game were Newfoundlanders Gerard Dunphy, the St. Lawrence native and lookalike brother of former Challenge Cup commissioner Gord Dunphy, and Gerard’s son Fergus.
