The Mount Pearl Marks Blades extended their record to 17-1 Sunday night, registering a 9-2 win over lowly Northeast Eagles in St. John’s Junior Hockey League play at The Glacier.
In the only other junior game over the weekend, the C.B.N. MoorFrost Stars doubled the CBR Assante Wealth Management Renegades 6-3 Friday night.
A pair of games Saturday night — Trinity-Placentia at CBR and C.B.N. at St. John’s — were postponed because of the weather, along with a Sunday afternoon tilt in Whitbourne which had Southern Shore visiting the Trinity-Placentia Flyers.
In Mount Pearl, Stephen Predham had the hot hand for the Blades with four goals, while Grant Thompson scored once and assisted on three others.
Brandon Short stopped 23 of 25 shots for the win.
At the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts, Mark Barrett paced the Stars with a pair of goals. Andrew Churchill, Mitchell Lewis, Mason Oates and Christian Dawe had one each. Ryan Petten collected three assists. Brad Connors, Tyler Nickson and Drew Stonehouse replied for the Renegades.
Stars netminder Riley Akerman, with 35 saves, and Blake Fudge of CBR were players of the game.
The league now breaks for Christmas, resuming play Jan. 5.
