It doesn’t have a name yet, but St. John’s new minor pro hockey team has a website and Twitter address.
The website — prohockeyisback.com — is currently sparse when it comes to content. As of Wednesday, it only featured a press release that was issued after the ECHL approved an expansion franchise for the Newfoundland capital.
According to team president Glenn Stanford, the website and Twitter account (@prohockeyisback) will be used temporarily to reach out to potential season ticket holders, including those from the six years when the American Hockey League’s IceCaps were in St. John’s.
A more permanent website will come with a team nickname. There is no exact timeline for revelation of that, as well as the team’s colours and logo, but Stanford admits it’s a matter that needs to be finalized “fairly quickly.”
