As the weather warmed up, Gerry Stone didn’t cool down.
The Holy Cross veteran went three-for-three at the plate while driving in three runs, and for good measure got the ‘W’ in a pitching decision, as the Trinity Pub Crusaders edged the RMM Gonzaga Vikings 9-8 in St. John’s Molson senior baseball Wednesday night at St. Pat’s Ball Park.
Stone had gone four-for-four with four RBIs in his previous outing for league-leading Holy Cross (6-2).
Stone, who reached base safely four times (he also walked), pitched twinning of one-hit relief for the win.
The Vikings’ Dan Connors also allowed just a single hit in a relief outing  — he went 2.2 innings — but took the loss, giving up the winning run.
Peter Madden, who homered, drove in three runs and scored twice for Gonzaga (3-4).
In Wednesday’s other senior game at St. Pat’s, Feildians downed the Knighst 15-3 in a game abbreviated to five innings by application of the mercy rule.
Adam Lawlor (6H, 1W, 2K) pitched the win over Matt Sullivan, who had started for the Knights (2-5),
Grant Vincent had three hits and four RBIS, and also stole two bases for Feildians (4-3), now alone in second place.
