Twenty-two teams — including a couple of from Nova Scotia — are among those entered in the 20th edition of the Confederation Cup high school hockey tournament which opens Tuesday.
Ten teams are entered in Tier I A and B divisions, including Avon View High School from Windsor, N.S., and Central Kings Rural High School from Cambridge, N.S.
Three pools with four teams per pool comprise the tournament’s Tier II division.
Thirty-eight round-robin games are scheduled, with another 14 playoff games planned, meaning nine arenas in metro St. John’s are required.
The tournament opens 8 p.m. Tuesday with one game scheduled for The Glacier in Mount Pearl, featuring that city’s two high school rivals, O’Donel Patriots and Mount Pearl Senior High Huskies.
The Tier I and II finals are set for 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday at Mile One Centre.
