Alexandre Nunes of St. John’s and Hannah Neville Paradise are the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association junior male and female athletes of the month for August.
Playing for the St. John’s Rep team in provincial boys under-15 play, Nunes had 10 goals, most of them coming on individual efforts that saw him beat numerous defenders before scoring.
Neville is an 11-year old who plays an age-group above with the Conception Bay South girls under-13 entry.
Despite this, she was goal-scoring leader for the provincial girls U13 league, finishing the season with 28 goals in 15 games. Neville, who is a member of the NLSA Whitecaps program, also scored all four of her team’s goals in a 4-0 semifinal win over Feildians, giving her 32 tallies in 16 contests, an average of two per game.
