ARNOLD’S COVE, NL – Icewater Seafoods president Alberto Wareham said the company is looking forward to being a part of the Association of Seafood Producers (ASP).
The Arnold’s Cove-based company announced its decision to join the ASP, the leading industry trade organization representing seafood processers in Newfoundland and Labrador, in a news release issued on May 2.
“We have worked together cooperatively, we’ve dialogued, we’ve exchanged ideas in the past, and we think now is a good time to formally join ASP, to extend our efforts and collaboration for the betterment of the industry,” Wareham said.
ASP executive director Derek Butler said having Icewater Seafoods onboard would benefit the organization.
“This is good news for ASP, for strengthening the association and extending our reach, if you will, not just in terms of cod, but the industry generally, on public policy and a sound approach to fisheries management,” said Butler.
“Alberto and Bruce Wareham are major players in the industry, the stature they possess, the business and community they represent … it is an honour to have them join with us.”
The ASP was founded in 2004. Its members produce the majority of most shellfish species, pelagics, and groundfish in the province.
