Tom Lambe and Chris Duke usually spend their days managing City Wide Taxi’s fleet of taxis and buses, but Wednesday they were on the road with 300 passengers of a different variety — turkeys.

The turkeys are a charitable donation from City Wide Taxi’s staff and owner, Peter Gulliver, to six different community organizations.

The company organizes a different donation every Christmas, and this year decided to give turkeys to people in need.

“It puts a smile on your face knowing that they’re going to have a meal for Christmas,” said Lambe.

Fifty turkeys went to each of the six organizations, including Bridges to Hope, Brighter Futures, Choices for Youth, the Community Food Sharing Association, The Gathering Place and the MacMorran Community Centre.

Lambe says the deliveries were a surprise for the organizations.

“Oh, they were amazed, they were tickled.”

He added that it is simply the company’s way of saying thank you and giving back to society — especially to the people who need it.
