DILDO, NL – Dildo Island Boat Tours and Adventures has expanded its operations with some financial assistance from the federal government.

The company has received a $175,000 repayable investment through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s (ACOA) business development program to renovate and upgrade an existing waterfront property into a seven-room inn next to its tour business in Broad Cove.

The Dildo Boathouse Inn was officially opened today, June 1.

Dildo Island Boat Tours and Adventures has been in business since 2005 and offers narrated boat tours, sightseeing tours and fishery-based experiences.

The expansion will allow the company to provide unique experiential tourism packages to visitors, offering at-sea adventures and a place to stay, according to a release from ACOA.

“We are excited to be expanding our business with the addition of the Dildo Boathouse Inn, as well as the Music and Friends Café,” Paula McEntegart, Dildo Island Boat Tours and Adventures co-owner, said in the release.

“Visitors will get to experience our area’s culture with performances from local musicians all summer long and through the original art and local crafted furnishings we have included in each room.”
