CORNER BROOK, N.L. — Economist Mike Stolte, author of “Tourism 360” — a guide to assessing regional tourism potential, was in Corner Brook Thursday to facilitate the Visioning, Benchmarking, and Idea Generation session that is part of the Strategic Tourism for Areas and Regions (STAR) program being employed in the Corner Brook/Bay of Islands/Lower Humber Valley area to develop a new tourism strategy for the region.

About 50 people took in the event at the Rotary Arts Centre aimed at assessing local attitudes towards the tourism industry, along with the area’s infrastructure and capacity, and how those things can be harnessed to their full potential.

Tract Consulting and the local STAR committee expect to have a draft strategy to better position the local tourism industry in the marketplace prepared by June.
