The friendly smiles and greetings of the two women — owners Doreen Taylor and Marcella Hickey — who served customers for years is a thing of the past now as Flower Hill Grocery, a landmark for many years in the older part of downtown St. John’s, is no more.

The family-owned store closed its doors for good on Monday.
