PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. — There’s one less option on the dine-out menu for Port Hawkesbury residents these days with the recent closure of the KFC outlet on Reeves Street.

A representative from KFC Canada confirmed to the Post that their restaurant in Port Hawkesbury had recently closed due to the expiration of a lease on the building.

“Our current franchise partner is interested in re-opening in the market and (is) seeking out the right opportunity,” according to Bethany Tillo in an emailed response to questions.

“This closure is in no way a reflection of the dedication and contributions of our valued team members and we would like to thank the community for their loyalty throughout the years. While it’s always unfortunate to have to close a restaurant, we hope to be back in Port Hawkesbury in the future.”

The next closest KFC restaurant is now in Antigonish.

KFC has 20 locations across the province including Cape Breton locations in Sydney, Sydney River and New Waterford.

If any local operators are interested in knowing more about how to join the ‘world’s most iconic chicken restaurant family,’ Tillo welcomed them to reach out to KFC online at www.kfc.ca/franchise
