It’s a fitness staple in the west end of St. John’s, but on Friday the New World Fitness gym announced it will be closing at the end of the month.
“Like any private company, some years have been better for business than others,” the company wrote in a notice posted to its website and social media.
“In recent years, the business landscape has changed with increased competition and escalating operating costs which, combined, has impacted us in a significant way.”
The company, located on Topsail Road, said it made the “difficult business decision” to close effective 6 p.m. on August 30.
Until then, it will continue to operate as usual so that members have time to transition to another gym.
