The Paint Shop has acquired a Benjamin Moore store in New Brunswick, giving the Newfoundland and Labrador company its 34th location in Atlantic Canada.

In a news release Wednesday, the company characterized the move as part of a continued expansion across Canada. The store, located at 541 Rothesay Ave. in Saint John, becomes the third Benjamin Moore Paint Shop in New Brunswick.

The store was purchased from House of Excellence, which continues to operate Benjamin Moore retail stores in Prince Edward Island. The release said staff and management at the Saint John location will remain employed.

“We’re expecting a seamless transition and are excited about the growth potential for Paint Shop and Benjamin Moore in this market,” Paint Shop president Bob Payne said in the release.

The Paint Shop specializes in paint, wallpaper, industrial coatings, flooring, window treatments and décor. The company opened its first store in St. John's in 1975 and is now headquartered in Mount Pearl.
