The city’s only Milestones Grill & Bar will reopen, according to parent company CARA, but it can’t say when.
“We’re working through some contractual stuff we have to deal with before we can refranchise,” says senior vice-president Steve Pelton. “Believe me, we’re working very hard on that because we want to get that store open. We really like that location.

“It’s a lot of work on our end and we’re working through it as fast as possible and we’ll be aggressively looking for some franchise partners.”

Milestones opened on Hebron Way in the city’s east end in 2014 under the ownership of Ron Burke. On the surface, it seemed to be doing relatively well, notwithstanding the economic challenges most businesses began facing in the years since.

Pelton says, “all in all, it was a viable business.”
On Nov. 1, just a week after hosting a job fair, a sign was posted on the door indicating it would be closed for the next two months, with a plan to reopen in early 2018.

When asked what led to the unexpected closure and his departure as a franchisee, Burke declined comment and referred any questions about Milestones to CARA.

When asked the same question, Pelton said, “It’s not for me to say at this point. I wish I could, but I can’t.”

Pelton adds that while it may reopen under corporate management in the interim, the long-term preference is to have a new franchise partner.
