New intersection opened near St. John's Avalon Mall

A move to help curb accidents and traffic flow in on Kenmount Road came to fruition Tuesday morning.
The City of St. John's opened a new intersection and entrance to the Avalon Mall at Polina Road, an area notorious for traffic snarls and accidents over the years.
The site came online at 7 a.m. and should make it easier for traffic to access the Avalon Mall and Polina Road sites in addition to keeping traffic flowing more evenly on Kenmount Road.
The project was announced last fall and following an analysis of the area by the city and construction, it was completed over the Thanksgiving weekend.
