ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The International Association of Business Communicators Newfoundland and Labrador (IABC NL) has been chosen the winner of the International Chapter of the Year Award.

The award was recently presented in Long Beach, California, during the Chapter Management Awards ceremony, which is held in conjunction with IABC’s leadership institute.

The event attracts IABC leaders from around the world, giving them an opportunity to network, share best practices and learn about leadership development. The awards — which cover initiatives from July 2017 to November 2018 — recognize leadership abilities, management skills, creativity and teamwork of outstanding volunteer leaders worldwide.

“We are small, but mighty,” said Diana Quinton, past-present of the Newfoundland and Labrador chapter, pointing to the efforts of the group’s dedicated board of directors, members and volunteers.

The IABC NL also took home the Small Chapter of the Year award, an Award of Excellence in the category of Membership and Marketing and four awards of merit in the categories of Communication Management, Volunteer Engagement and Leadership Development, Financial Management, Volunteer Engagement and Leadership Development, Financial Management and Chapter events. The Chapter events recognize the chapter’s annual Pinnacle Awards Gala, which is scheduled this year for June 27.

It’s the second time in 10 years the IABC NL won the International Chapter of the Year Award. It was also named the winner in 2009.

It’s won the Small Chapter of the Year Award six times, as well as awards for specific portfolios.
