Shorefast, Fogo Island Inn win Trico Social EnterPrize

Fogo Island Inn and the Shorefast Foundation have won the 2017 Trico Social EnterPrize, which includes a $100,000 grant.

Social EnterPrize is given to Canadian organizations that show leadership and excellence in social entrepreneurship.

“Social enterprise has given us the opportunity to redefine how business is used as a tool to strengthen community and develop the inherent capacities of people, as well as create models for community ownership of economic assets,” said Shorefast CFO Diane Hodgins, who will accept the award in Calgary next week.

Fogo Island Inn is a Shorefast venture that employs 193 locals.
