Work to convert the former East End Fire Station on the corner of Duckworth Street and Ordnance Street to a microbrewery and café called The Firehall got underway on Wednesday. The facility was sold to Palbright Holdings Inc., which plans to turn the first floor of the nearly 70-year-old building into a craft brew pub and taproom with 15 taps featuring suds brewed on site and those from other craft breweries around the province. The second floor will be used primarily for office space and storage, but it will also include a private function room that can accommodate up to 30 patrons.
