The Sandman Hotel Group has officially opened its St. John’s location, the company’s first hotel in Atlantic Canada.
The six-storey building on Kenmount Road features 201 guest rooms, an indoor heated swimming pool and whirlpool, as well as meeting and banquet facilities.
There’s also two restaurants on site — Denny’s, which opened earlier this month, and a Moxie’s, which is slated to open earlier this summer. Both brands are owned and operated by Sandman.
“We are thrilled about introducing Sandman Signature St. John’s Hotel to the city and showcasing Sandman’s hospitality,” Taj Kassam, president and COO stated in a release. “For the past 50 years, we have made it our business to take care of the details and ensure every guest’s stay is enjoyable, comfortable, and of good value which is exactly what we’ll continue doing in St. John’s. Not only are we elated to be opening our first location in Atlantic Canada, but we are proud our first hotel is in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
Later this year, Sandman will open its first hotel in the United States and it’s third in the United Kingdom. Other Canadian locations opening this year are Hamilton, Ottawa, and Sherwood Park, Alta., a suburb of Edmonton.
