Easter Seals participants, families and friends are excited report they have raised $770,000 towards the "See Ability in Disability" $2.5 million capital campaign to build the most accessible and inclusive park likely east of Toronto.
Late last year, Easter Seals NL held an official ground breaking forthe park project, at which it also thanked some of the many groups that have come on board as sponsors.
In these photos Easter Seals NL CEO Mark Bradbury and the 2017 Easter Seals Ambassador Nathan Chaulk pose with representatives of sponsors: Trades NL — $75,000 donation; TD Bank — $50,000 donation; The Claudia Cup Foundation — $27,000 donation; United Way NL — $25,000 donation; and, The Narrows Club — $10,000 donation.
In the next phase of work on the park, this spring will see work continue on the Easter Seals Playground in Memory of Jeremy Cross, with an anticipated opening date in spring of 2018. The civil works and ground work are completed. The playset has been ordered and delivered and will be built as soon as the snow clears.
Other phases such as the outdoor hard-surface court, BBQ and event plaza, sensory gardens, grass play area, and amphitheatre etc. are to come as further monies are raised.
