Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers cycled up Parade Street to RNC headquarters in St. John's Friday afternoon to finish the 2018 RNC Tour the Rock.

The event, which saw seven officers cycle across the island, beginning in Port aux Basques on Sept. 8, was held to raise awareness and funds for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

The group – which consists of Const. Melorie Harris, Const. Jennifer Clarke, Const. Brian Cook, Const. Glen Cunningham, Const. Jenna Currie, Const. Ken Jackson and Const. Derek McDonald – made several stops along the way to hold various fundraising events and, at the end of their journey, presented MADD president Patricia Coates with a $10,000 cheque.

In return, Coates presented each of them with certificates of appreciations and commemorative MADD medals, depicting a photo of her stepson, Nicholas Coates, who was killed by a drunk driver in 2013.
