COVEHEAD, P.E.I. - Sully isn’t your typical pet pooch.

The six-month-old pup, a cross between a Border collie and St. Bernard, has fans around the world watching his daily adventures on P.E.I.

About 1,100 fans follow a Facebook page dedicated to Sully, which has new photos every day showing the pup running on beaches and visiting lighthouses to exploring P.E.I.’s landmarks like the Confederation Bridge and Victoria-By-The Sea.

“He’s well-loved, that’s for sure,” said Sully’s human, April Adams, who resides in Covehead.

Adams previously had another dog named Sammy she often toured the province with and would share pictures of on the We Love Prince Edward Island Facebook page. Sammy became somewhat of a star, partly because he would often tilt his head whenever Adams would take his photo.

In July, Adams had to put Sammy down due to cancer.

A couple months later she got Sully, who has become a star in his own right and often does the same head tilt.

“It’s kind of his trademark,” said Adams. “Sammy became very, very popular on that site and now Sully is very, very popular. People were after me to get him his own Facebook page.”

“I would have never thought to do a calendar of my dog. If I can get enough demand, I’ll put another order in. It’s crazy, I think next year there will be more of a demand as the site grows.”

The page “Sully’s Adventures!” has attracted about 1,100 followers since starting in October.

The page grew so much that many started asking Adams to make a 2019 calendar with Sully’s pictures, with purchases coming from the U.S., U.K. and even Australia.

“I would have never thought to do a calendar of my dog,” said Adams, adding that the she sold more than 120 calendars and still has more people wanting to order one. “If I can get enough demand, I’ll put another order in.

Adams also donated some of the proceeds from every calendar to the P.E.I. Humane Society last week.

Jennifer Harkness, development manager at the society, said the donation of $160 was heartfelt. It could help pay for a surgery or multiple days of care.

“It really does help, most of the funding we have coming in is from individual donors or events,” said Harkness, adding that Sully also has fans at the society. “We love looking at the photos of Sully. It’s just so great to see any dog out there enjoying their life and going on adventures.”
