One of Nova Scotia’s most historic, and even prehistoric, sites has been recognized by one of the internet’s top travel sites.
The Joggins Fossil Institute at Joggins Fossil Cliffs overlooking the Bay of Fundy is a 2020 Travelers’ Choice award-winner, based on a full year of reviews left by visitors on the Tripadvisor website.
The awards are presented to sites and businesses that consistently receive positive feedback on the popular site, putting them in the top 10 per cent of hospitality and travel businesses worldwide.
Allowing visitors to go back in time and see evidence of some of Earth’s earliest lifeforms, the institute is popular with fossil hunters and science buffs of all ages, offering fascinating educational value in a beautiful natural setting at a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
“Our front-line personnel is second to none when it comes to customer service, interpretative skill and knowledge of the cliffs and fossils,” said Joggins Fossil Institute director of operations Jordan LeBlanc explaining its high ratings on Tripadvisor. “Without them, we would never have garnered such recognition.”
While the awards are based on reviews posted prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tripadvisor’s chief commercial officer Kanika Soni hopes their presentation helps travelers keep future destinations in mind when they are safely able to explore the world around them once again.
“Although it’s been a challenging year for travel and hospitality, we want to celebrate our partners' achievements,” said Soni. “Award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality. Not only are these winners well-deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration for travelers as the world begins to venture out again.”
