Geek Out at the Library
Annual free sci-fi and fantasy convention at the AC Hunter Library. Come dressed up as your favourite characters, meet cosplayers, authors and R2D2; play some Dungeons and Dragons; check out some amazing LEGO creations by the NL LUG group and then build your own; flip through some comics from the TimeMasters table; listen to some nerdy music by the NSO Atlantic String Quartet; and enter our costume contests! This free convention is happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Orangetheory Fitness Cape to Cabot 2019 Health Expo is happening Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Marine Institute, Ridge Road from 1 to 5 p.m. Meet health and fitness vendors with goods and services for sale. There will also be a children’s bouncy castle. The Gathering Place will take your donation of gently used running shoes, and Athletics NorthEAST will collect your non-perishable food items and cash donations for our local food banks. Bully Beware
Tired of being bullied or having your child bullied? You are not alone. The Mount Pearl School of Martial Arts has a well-structured program to arm you and/or your child with the know-how and techniques to recognize, defuse and defend yourself against bullying. We teach students to be prepared and ‘ARMED’ (Aware, Ready, Maneuver, Execute, Defend) shoud they encounter bullies. Our Bully Beware program runs Wednesday and Sunday evenings at O’Donel High School and is only one element of our well-structured martial arts program. Gain self-confidence through self-defense. Special group classes can be arranged on request. The Mount Pearl School of Martial Arts has been guiding the youth of Mount Pearl and surrounding areas for over 30 years.
