ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Whether it’s with an arakh or an axe, it appears Jason Momoa’s skill with a blade isn’t just an act.
The multi-talented star, best known for his role as Khal Drogo in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” is in St. John’s for the filming of Season 2 of Discovery Canada’s “Frontier.”
While off the set, the actor, model, director, writer and producer went down to Jack Axes Inc. and demonstrated he’s also a talented axe thrower.
Momoa posted a video to Instagram Saturday from his trip to the Water Street axe-throwing facility. After being handed a beer and saying thanks, Momoa introduces himself: “I’m Jason Momoa. I like beer and throwing tomahawks. And if you’re in Newfoundland, you should come down to Jack Axes.”
Then he throws an axe and hits the centre of the target with ease, and says, “Yeah, mother f—ker.”
The video’s been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, which could be good advertising for Jack Axes.
Momoa stars in “Frontier,” a drama about the Canadian fur trade in the 18th century, as Declan Harp. The show premiered Nov. 6, and continues to air on Discovery Canada Sundays until Dec. 11.
