Lee Stewart enjoys a good meme, a great joke and a grand feed. The Conception Bay South resident and hardcore A&W fan is the self-proclaimed Lord of the (Onion) Rings, using Twitter to share his food finds with his followers.

In December 2019, a photo of Stewart languishing on a well-maintained lawn with a lawn mower was the subject of a meme created by Tank Sinatra, a meme generator, and featured on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” From there, the meme made the rounds on social and mainstream media.

“I watched the episode and took a selfie with the television,” Stewart says with a laugh.

The meme is ranked 42 of 50 Best Lawn Mowing, Landscaping, and Lawn Care memes on YourGreenPal.com.

“This man has mastered the art of the dating profile,” the blog states. “Women love a handyman that knows how to enjoy life.”

The “Ellen” appearance capped off an adventurous 2019.

“After two years of being unemployed I landed a job as a financial analyst,” Stewart says. “Now that I had some money, I decided to do all the fun stuff I couldn’t afford to do before.”

Loading up his trusty Honda CRV, Stewart hit the highway in September to explore Newfoundland’s west coast, and the Great Northern Peninsula. “I stayed in Deer Lake, Woody Point, and Hay Cove,” he says. “I visited Corner Brook, Trout River, Rocky Harbour, and St. Anthony. L’Anse aux Meadows has been on my bucket list for years. I spent one hour and 20 minutes trying to eat the Frankensteiner Burger in South Brook, and I visited all the A&Ws.”

“I like to try interesting food and check out new restaurants,” adds Stewart, a selfie fan who unselfishly posts his finds @LeeStewartNL. “I drove seven hours to Conne River to eat a Mudder Trucker Burger!”

Stewart, like people in the rest of the province, is staying close to home these days, observing the restrictions in place to try and stop the spread of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador.

“I’m doing fine,” he says. “I don’t fret the stuff I can’t control. I started working from home and I love wearing my pyjamas all day. I could get used to this.”
