After all these years of trying to master the art of wrapping a tortilla, I found this amazing technique.
How is it that I’m just being introduced to the easiest way of preparing a tortilla wrap?
Did you know? We must tell all the foodies.
OK, I may be going a little overboard with this, but maybe not. There’s been many times when I let out a few choice colourful words while attempting to wrap a tortilla or flip it in a pan.
Why? Because all of my carefully placed stuffing would either fall out of the tortilla or it would unravel, leaving me to eat the messiest imaginable tortilla. It reminds me of a Meatloaf song, “every now and then I fall apart…” However, given the ingredients were so yummy I would simply give up and eat every messy bite out of spite. Do you feel what I’m laying down here folks? Surely I can’t be the only one?

I came across this fantastic idea when looking at recipes online this week. My mind was instantly blown, I watched it at least four times over to make sure it wasn’t a trick. Sure enough, it was the real deal. I was pumped!
I laid out the steps in a photo to help make it easier for you to follow, but here’s the gist.
First, take out your ingredients.
The great thing about tortilla wraps is that you can make them sweet or savory. Need some inspiration? I chose to make a brunch wrap using turkey bacon, scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, sriracha sauce for a little heat and avocado. If you’re looking for sweet, you could try strawberries or raspberries with cream cheese and vanilla or Nutella, banana and nut pieces with a sprinkle of sugar or cinnamon. How about Mexican? You can use a ground meat or refried beans, cheese, salsa, sour cream, onion, mushrooms and peppers.
Have fun with it, the possibilities are endless.
Start with a flat tortilla. You can either prepare it cold, warm it in the microwave, or in a frying pan — it’s completely your personal preference. Place it on a cutting board and take a knife to make one cut from the middle outward, essentially making one slice.
Place your ingredients in the four quarters of the tortilla and get prepared to wrap. If you have more than four ingredients, no sweat, you can easily double up. Take your first quarter and fold it in an upward motion, on top of the second quarter. Take the second quarter and flip it onto the third quarter. Lastly, place the third quarter on top of the fourth quarter and you’re done. You should end up with a thick triangle tortilla wrap.

This next part is completely up to you. Once the tortilla is fully wrapped, I like to give the tortilla a blast of heat. Not just for the warmth, but to give it a crunchy texture on the outside. Place it back in the frying pan and heat it up on both sides. Take it up when each side has a golden brown colouring.
Yum! This is a worthwhile step, especially if you use cheese as it seals the contents.
Don’t forget your dipping sauce. For this breakfast wrap, I used a mix of sour cream and avocado — absolutely delish.
