Admiralty House and the Association for the Arts in Mount Pearl are celebrating winter’s beauty with an art show that includes everything from watercolours to photographs to fibre art. Join us at the Annex (365 Old Placentia Rd.) for "Wintry ReMix" — a delightful display of winter-inspired creativity. The exhibit will run until Friday.

Food for Thought Project
The Conception Bay South Literacy Council, a non-profit organization, in co-operation with the Paradise/Conception Bay South Community Food Bank, is sponsoring its 12th annual Food for Thought Project to encourage families to read with their children, by providing gently-used children’s books to patrons of our local food bank. Books can be dropped off during office hours at the food bank next to Mary Brown's on Route 60, or at the Conception Bay South Public Library. The project will run until March 14. Books should be appropriate for ages infant to age 12. Tango
Tango on the Edge is an Argentine tango dance group that meets on Sundays and Thursdays at the St. John's Arts and Culture Centre for práctica (a social gathering where dancers practice and refine their skills in Argentine tango) and dancing. We are a not-for-profit dance club, founded in 2007. No dance experience is required. Singles and couples welcome. First session is free. Public Scuba Session
Every other Thursday, Ocean Quest Adventures hosts a pool session for scuba divers to come to the 17-foot deep end of the Aquarena pool to practice skills, or just get underwater. The fee is $15, which can be paid at the Ocean Quest shop (41 O'Leary Ave.) or via e-transfer. Contact [email protected] for more information or to e-transfer. This is for all certified scuba divers who are interested in getting some practice in a contained pool setting.

Grad Student Talks
Join Nature NL from 7:30-9 p.m. at the MUN Arts and Administration Building (Room A1043) for our fifth year of graduate student mini-lectures. Three Memorial University students will present their work. Topics are non-native plant establishment in Newfoundland’s boreal forest, cryptic female choice and hybridization in fish, and how eelgrass ecosystem services vary depending on surrounding environmental conditions. During this event we will hear from: Jennifer Sullivan, an MSc candidate in Carissa Brown's biogeography lab; Tyler Lantiegne, an MSc candidate in Craig Purchase's evolutionary ecology of fishes lab; and Tanya Prystay, a PhD candidate at the Marine Institute in the Centre of Fisheries Ecosystem Research. Weekly lunches at the Avalon Mall every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m, hosted by L’Arche Avalon. It's a great time to connect, and is a welcome addition to everyone's weekly schedule. Come and join us at the food court over by the big windows near the entrance. Bring your own lunch or buy something there. L'Arche Avalon is a local charitable organization dedicated to the establishment of L'Arche homes and communities. Our core members are adults with intellectual disabilities. In L’Arche homes, core members and their assistants live together in family-like settings, where spiritual and social well-being are promoted and supported.

LEGO Showcase
The Newfoundland LEGO Users Group will host its second annual LEGO Showcase from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m at Bricks & Minifigs (45 Blackmarsh Rd.). Free admission. Open to all ages. We will show official sets and our own creations from a variety of LEGO themes, including Star Wars, city, castle, trains and others. This event is a chance for our members to show off their creativity as we display the LEGO models we have designed and built. Our LEGO builders will be on hand to answer questions about their designs as well as to answer any questions you may have about the LEGO hobby.
