MASSEY DRIVE, N.L. — John David Lavallee turned three on Wednesday and was looking forward to having a party and inviting his friends, but that wasn’t possible because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
So, his mom, Tonya Harris, decided to put a sign outside their Massey Drive home asking passersby to honk their horns to show John David some birthday love.
Harris said the reaction to the sign was phenomenal. A parade of Royal Newfoundland Constabulary vehicles drove by, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer dropped by to wish him happy birthday, he had a visit from Elmo, and some people even dropped presents at the door.
Harris said John David enjoyed all the attention.
“Not only did it make his birthday extra special, but filled our hearts with so much love.”
