SYDNEY, N.S. — Nominations are now open for Nova Scotia’s 47th annual Provincial Volunteer Awards.

This year’s awards, which will be broadcast live online on April 26, recognize Nova Scotians who are driving positive change and providing inspiration to others in their communities.

“We’re surrounded by people who act with compassion and goodwill towards others,” said provincial Communities, Culture and Heritage Minister Suzanne Lohnes-Croft. “This is our way of saying thank you to the many exceptional volunteers of all ages who lift up the lives of others and contribute to life in our communities.”

A provincial Volunteer Award may be awarded in each municipality and Mi’kmaq community. There are also additional awards including the new Nova Scotia Strong Award which is a salute to resilience during times of tragedy and struggle. The other awards are the Youth Volunteer Award and the Family Volunteer Award.

Nominations can be made through municipal or Mi’kmaq community contacts or online on the Nova Scotia government website.
