CORNER BROOK, N.L. — For 38 years, the Valley Mall Gingerbread House has collected thousands of gifts for families in need during Christmastime.
The Gingerbread House is a project sponsored by the Valley Mall with VOCM and the Salvation Army.
Passersby drop off gifts at the house, open on the lower level of the Valley Mall, and they are picked up and distributed by the Salvation Army.
Every year, a couple thousand gifts are delivered to families.
The house opened Nov. 13 and is open until Dec. 24.
For the opening ceremony, 75 kids from Eastside Elementary's Grade 5 choir performed, as well as the Salvation Army band.
Anyone in the community is welcome to give a gift in the spirit of the season by dropping it off at the house.
