Enough of the baking our own bread and doing Instagram live workouts, I am desperate for some real entertainment.

I am waiting with bated breath for the new season of the Bachelorette and all of the adjacent podcasts, blogs, and live tweets that will go along with it.

Warning: Although ABC has released a statement and media outlets are talking about it, some may consider this a Bachelorette spoiler, so steer clear if you like a good clean reality TV season.

Pre-pandemic, 39-year-old hair stylist and four-time bachelor show alum Clare Crawley was announced as the new bachelorette. I’m not the biggest Clare fan but I was thrilled to see the age bracket of the show swing back toward me and less fresh-out-of-high-school.

To film the show safely, cast and crew were tested for coronavirus and then quarantined for two weeks. The entire production is shooting at a resort in Palm Springs.

Clare’s men were announced early, and Dale Moss was an obvious standout. Dale is a former NFL player, model and global ambassador for the Special Olympics. I was once in the background of a BMW commercial that only aired online, so I can relate. Dale is 31, six-foot-two, and he talks openly about how the strong, powerful women in his life shaped him.

Did you just fall for him? Well rumour has it, Clare did!

The duo was allegedly in contact before the show started filming, and once filming began, it was clear none of the other relationships could catch up to what Clare and Dale had. Clare wanted to end the show and the producers, loving unexpected surprise drama, let her go. This unprecedented event gave them the opportunity to hit a public relations homerun by having an older bachelorette and a black bachelorette, so they brought in Tayshia Adams as Clare’s replacement.

Tayshia was on Colton’s season of The Bachelor and the following Bachelor in Paradise season. She’s 29 years old and one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever seen – she has an actual heart-shaped face! Us oval and round faces are over here contouring and jutting out our chin in photos like a bunch of suckers and Tayshia has a face that is the literal symbol of love.

I’m curious to see if this season will end with love for either bachelorette – I mean, if someone offers me two desserts, I would like to have (or at least try) both, so maybe the men are down with either Clare or Tayshia. Not that women are dessert – or even a main!

I tune in a little for the love but mainly for the amusement factor. My only expectations of The Bachelorette are that it quickly eats at least one hour of my week so I am that much closer to 2021, a time when I hope we can cough without everyone in a three-mile radius giving us the stink eye.
