KEELYWOOD: Which streaming site has the best content?

With so many streaming services available, what offers the best bang for your buck? Disney + is a great option for Disney fanatics or people with kids.

My priorities are simple: 1. My dog; 2. Watching television; and 3. Everything and everyone else, so I feel qualified to rank the top streaming sites.

1. Netflix

$13.99 for Netflix Standard

Netflix has the biggest content library of all streaming sites, which includes a great combination of original content (Love is Blind, Dating Around, Cheer, Dead to Me, Stranger Things, Ozark), popular third-party shows (The Office, Friends, Mad Men, Breaking Bad), along with movies (Bird Box, Marriage Story, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before). Netflix also has a slew of comedy specials and documentaries. Even though for $13.99, I could buy two numbers 6s at Wendy’s, I continue to give my money to Netflix each month. Just kidding, I mooch off a family member’s account and watch while I eat my two Wendy’s meals.

2. Crave

$19.98/month for the Crave/Movies/HBO Package

At first glance, I thought $20 per month was too big of a flex for the Crave catalogue, and then I looked through the catalogue. Now I’d like to withdraw that statement, donate an additional $40 per month, and give a hearty pat on the back to the Crave director of programming. Shows include Love Island, Shrill, Westword – should I just stop there? I won’t. The Outsider, Homeland, Seinfeld, The Big Bang Theory, and Succession.

3. Prime Video

$7.99/month

I got Prime so things would come to my house 12 hours after I realized I wanted them. Little did I know it came with television and movies! What a perk. I came for The Widow, I stayed for Brittany Runs a Marathon and Jonas Brothers Chasing Happiness. I’m only 48-hours into realizing I had access to Prime Video and I’ve already added Beautiful Boy, Book Smart, and a dozen other movies to my watch list.

4. Hayu

$5.99/month

If you are a reality TV buff then A) Let’s hang out and B) Do you mind getting a Hayu subscription so we can watch Vanderpump Rules when I come over? You can enjoy every season of Real Housewives, every season and spinoff of Keeping Up with The Kardashians, Love Island, Very Cavallari, and 1,000 other things to make your brain melt.

5. Disney+

$8.99/month

Although Disney + gives you every Disney movie ever made, The Mandalorian, The Simpsons, and reboots of popular shows, it’s just not for me. If you have kids, Disney + is much cheaper and more entertaining than a babysitter but don’t take my parenting advice, I have one dog and an aloe plant.

6. Apple TV+

$5.99/month

As much as I loved The Morning Show and adore anything Oprah Winfrey, I don’t think Apple TV+ has enough content to make any monthly price worth it. As their catalogue grows, I’m sure my interest will too, but for now it’s a ‘no’ from me.

Like diet, television is a matter of personal taste (of which mine is impeccable). I want you to spread your wings as far as your snuggie sleeves will let you and embrace the streaming site that is the best fit for you.
