A Virtual Mask-Q-rade Elimination Draw and Auction raised $360,088 for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Saturday night.

There were 500 guests who purchased tickets and participated from home with the money raised going toward the purchase of priority medical equipment for the hospital.

“This event would not be possible without the remarkable generosity of all volunteers, sponsors, prize donors and guests who support the QEH,” said QEH Foundation chairwoman Patsy MacLean in a released statement.

Equipment to be purchased includes new phototherapy lights for the Provincial Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to help babies with jaundice, three new pieces of gynecology equipment for the operating room to improve women’s health, including enhanced equipment to remove fibroids and polyps, 10 new patient scales for the P.E.I. Cancer Treatment Centre and a piece of equipment for the Physical Medicine Department to help children walk who otherwise couldn’t.

Highlights of the event included John Gillis from South Pinette winning a 2020 Bayliner VR4 Outboard boat and trailer, valued at over $48,000, in the elimination draw in partnership with Quartermaster Marine and a $6,100 winning bid by Barbara Smith for the pediatric oncology bell that will be installed in pediatrics for children to ring following the completion of their cancer care.
