SYDNEY, N.S. — A Point Edward addictions recovery home struck by fire last December has received a $10,000 award through the L’Oréal Paris’ 2020 Women of Worth Award Program.

The award honours the work of Dr. Laura Whyte in establishing the Hope Project that oversees Hope House and all its funding and services.

Whyte was one of 10 women recognized this year in Canada.

As part of the non-profit's work, Hope House provided skill-based programs running three to 12 months, depending on client needs.

Each of this year’s honourees received $10,000 for their organization.

An overall national honouree was also selected to receive an additional $10,000. That award went to Little Warriors, a national, charitable organization based in Alberta. It works with children who have experienced sexual abuse.
