ARICHAT, N.S. — The late Silver Donald Cameron’s true-crime saga "Blood in the Water" about the 2015 murder of Phillip Boudreau off the waters of Petit-de-Grat, on Isle Madame, will soon become a television series.
The book, published by Penguin Random House, has topped the bestseller lists across the country since its release on Aug. 11.
“Don’s family and I are thrilled to receive the news that the television rights to his last book ... have been optioned to Barrie Dunn at Nova Scotia’s Twist Pictures,” said Marjorie Simmins, widow of the late author and filmmaker.
“We are certain Dunn and his crew will do an excellent job working with this complex story,” said Simmins, who is also a journalist and author.
Dunn spent 15 years at the helm of the popular Canadian TV series, "Trailer Park Boys," for which he also wrote and acted as Ray in the series.
The deal was done by Hotchkiss Daily and Associates on behalf of the Denise Bukowski Agency. Print rights to "Blood in the Water" were recently sold in the U.S. and U.K.
Cameron died shortly before the book was released.
