Coffee and Culture
Come for a yarn about Newfoundland knits. Shirley Scott and Christine Legrow, authors of “Saltwater Mittens” and a newly published sequel, “Saltwater Classics,” will be at The Rooms theatre from 2:30-3:30 p.m. to talk about the historical significance of their knit designs and how they developed and published the patterns. Shirley is the author of “Canada Knits” and loves combining history with knitting. Christine is the owner of Spindrift Handknits, which specialized in high-quality hand knit wear. Cost is included with admission to The Rooms.

Tango on the Edge is an Argentine tango dance group that meets Sundays and Thursdays at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre for práctica (a social gathering where dancers practice and refine their skills in Argentine tango) and dancing. The Story of Paddy Iron
The life of Paddy “Iron” McCarthy of Renews is brought to life at The Rooms theatre by Randy Crane, with musical accompaniment by Larry Brazil. Adapted from Frank Holden's play, “Paddy Iron,” in turn inspired by Bertha Thorne's book “It's Like a Dream to Me.” This play recalls Paddy's memories of everyday and extraordinary events of Newfoundland throughout the 20th century from the crash of the SS Florizel, to fishing, community dances and politics. Complemented by archival images, this play will bring you back to days gone by. Showing from 7:30-9 p.m. Tickets $30.
