It’s time again to pay special tribute to people who make Bible Hill a good place to live, work and play.

Village of Bible Hill Commissioners will once again be holding an annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony in April to recognize and celebrate the important and valued contributions of local volunteers. Village chairman Kevin Kennedy encourages nominations from the community.

“The success of a vibrant community is dependent on the work of so many individuals and groups of people that dedicate their time to making it a better place,” said Kennedy. “During National Volunteer Week, we look to thank and honour, at the local level, the efforts of those among us who volunteer.”

If you have been positively influenced by, or know of one or more community members who volunteer their time to better the community and the lives of its residents, consider nominating them for recognition. To nominate for recognition and celebration at the ceremony, submit a nomination form by Feb. 22.

There are five categories for nomination:

Generations of Volunteering Award - presented to a Bible Hill family with two or more generations who have a combined 15 or more years of service, with each member contributing at least five years. They may volunteer in one organization or for many, together or separately. It’s the family culture and commitment to the community that this award focuses on. Only one family will be chosen per year, and each family may receive the award only once.

Golden Long-Term Service Award - presented to residents of Bible Hill who have made contributions through community volunteer service for 50 years or longer, of which at least 25 years of service took place in Bible Hill.

Long-Term Service Award - presented to Bible Hill residents who have made contributions through community volunteer service for 25 years or longer, of which at least 12 years of service took place in Bible Hill.

Young Achievers Service Award – goes to a Bible Hill youth (aged 18 or younger) who has made an outstanding contribution in volunteer community service in Bible Hill in the past year. There is no limit to the number of awards presented each year, or the number of times a person may receive the award.

Outstanding Service Award – given to those who have made an outstanding contribution in volunteer community service in Bible Hill in the past year. The volunteer may reside inside or outside of Bible Hill. There is no limit to the number of awards presented each year, or the number of times a person may receive the award.

Nomination forms can be found online at www.biblehill.ca/volunteer-awards, in person, or by calling the village office for an alternate format.

Nominations can be mailed or dropped off to the village office at 67 Pictou Rd., Bible Hill, N.S., B2N 2R9; or e-mailed to [email protected].
