As an icon of luxury vehicles, Mercedes-Benz has defined the high-end driving experience for generations. But lately, more drivers across Newfoundland and Labrador are discovering that Mercedes-Benz’s new, modern line-up has an expanded range of options that’s putting luxury within their reach.

“What Mercedes has done, especially with the refresh on the vehicles, is that they’re a little more sporty and definitely more affordable,” says Jordan Howard, general sales manager of Mercedes-Benz St. John’s. “We see a lot of young professionals now.”

Included in the re-vamped line-up is the redesigned GLA, Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level SUV. Priced in the mid-40s, it’s a little larger than its predecessor but maintains a sleek, sporty feel.

Like all Mercedes-Benz vehicles, it offers a range of impressive standard features — including those that would normally be add-ons in other vehicles — like Android, Apple CarPlay and something that’s unique to only Mercedes-Benz.

‘HEY, MERCEDES’

Need a coffee? Feeling chilly? All you have to say is “Hey, Mercedes.” Now coming standard with every Mercedes-Benz vehicle, the new MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) is an A.I.-enabled multimedia system that’s intuitive, intelligent and actually learns the preferences of the driver over time.

“It’s the best interface in business right now,” Howard says of the industry-leading innovation.

Lifetime servicing costs and resale value, both which score top marks for Mercedes-Benz, also factor into the overall long-term investment that makes Mercedes-Benz the first choice of more and more Canadians.

The long-term value of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle combined with lower lifetime maintenance costs have also driven sales of the brand’s award-winning Sprinter Vans — which also boast superior fuel economy and a lower cost of lifetime ownership than any other vans on the market.

THE MERCEDES-BENZ PRE-OWNED OPTION

With the market having grown substantially for Mercedes-Benz in the last few years, Howard says more drivers are choosing the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program as a comfortable entry point — and their choices extend far beyond what’s currently on the lot. Staff at Mercedes-Benz St. John’s can source vehicles from across the entire Canadian network of Mercedes-Benz dealerships.

“We do a really good job of always finding the car that somebody’s looking for,” says Howard. “The 2017s to the 2020s in the Certified Pre-Owned program come with a lot of benefits. When it’s CPO, they generally qualify for lower rates, too.”

Currently, rates for a Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz are as low as 0.99 per cent for models released from 2017 to 2020. Compared with pre-owned rates from other car companies that can range up to 5 per cent, Howard says the savings add up.

A Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz also comes with the added bonus of a two-year extended warranty with an additional 40,000 kms in coverage. With other pre-owned purchases, in both the luxury and non-luxury classes, a similar warranty could add $3,000 to the purchase price.

“When you’re looking at saving 2-4 per cent interest on the purchase, plus the extra warranty coverage, the amount of value you’re going to get is immense,” says Howard.

While rates and offers for the Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz program change, the luxury vehicle retailer is continually rolling out new programs to ensure that Mercedes-Benz is competitively positioned with all other vehicles in its class.

Safety is paramount, too, with Mercedes-Benz offering an industry-leading 166-point inspection on all certified pre-owned vehicles — well above motor vehicle inspection standards.

THE TEST DRIVE EXPERIENCE

Just as every Mercedes-Benz vehicle is tailored to the driver, the test-drive experience is designed to be as comfortable as the luxury seats. Schedule your time and choose the vehicle you want to try out, whether you’re nearby or in another province.

Once they’re settled behind the wheel, Howard says even new drivers can immediately pinpoint “the Mercedes-Benz difference” — picking up on the “fit and finish” of the details before they’ve even buckled their seatbelt.

“You know you’re getting into a luxury vehicle,” says Howard. “When you drive it, it really is otherworldly.”

Leading in every vehicle class for power and performance, Mercedes-Benz offers a quiet, smooth ride unlike any other. Combined with its quality, reputation and luxurious details, Howard says there’s a reason the brand’s newest international advertising campaign says that with Mercedes-Benz, it’s “the best or nothing.”
