Arrest made in South River break and enter

SOUTH RIVER, N.L. — Bay Roberts RCMP have made an arrest in a recent break and enter case that turned violent in South River.

According to a news release issued Monday, Feb. 18, a 26-year-old from the community was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm and break and enter with intent. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear April 17 at Harbour Grace Provincial Court.

Police were called to a home on Springfield Road in South River Feb. 8. No one was home at the time of the break-in. According to a news release issued three days later, a male neighbour who witnessed the break-in confronted the suspect and was assaulted. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
