On Friday, Dec. 28 Bay Roberts RCMP stopped a vehicle in Upper Island Cove that was travelling in excess of 45 km/h over the speed limit.
In addition to speeding, the male driver was found to have over $8,600 in outstanding fines. He also had a suspended license, no insurance or registration for the vehicle and was displaying a license plate from another vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and the man was served court documents for a future court appearance.
The RCMP say they are committed to keeping the highways safe and will continue with enforcement efforts to remove aggressive and dangerous drivers from the roadway.
