There will be no more “ladies and gentleman” on Air Canada flights.

The airline told flight attendants in an internal memo to drop that phrase and its French equivalent “mesdames and messieurs” in favour of the gender neutral “everyone” or “tout le monde,” LaPresse reported Saturday.

The French news said the memo stated the change was to make the airline more “inclusive.”

“We want to ensure an inclusive space for everyone, including those who identify with gender X,” the memo said, according to LaPresse. “ The change will be reflected in the transmission of the Onboard Announcement Manual as part of our commitment to respect gender identity, diversity and inclusion.

We will tell you when this transmission will be available and when to implement this change,” the memo added.

This policy change comes a few months after the federal government allowed non-binary Canadians to identify themselves with an “X” on their passports.

While some on social media found the move “brave,” others saw it a little over-the-top. One Twitter user said he finds it to be “sad news.”

“All aspects of our society is being infected with the virus that the pronoun warriors and language police are spreading.”

Another said Air Canada was trying to court the “woke police.”

While one person was determined to “NEVER fly your airline AGAIN!”
