The family of motorcycle rider Joi Harris, killed during the filming of Deadpool 2 in Vancouver, has settled a lawsuit out of court with movie studio 20th Century Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter .
The amount of the settlement was not disclosed.
Harris was killed on Aug. 14, 2017, while rehearsing a stunt at Jack Poole Plaza in downtown Vancouver. Harris lost control of her bike — a Ducati Hyperstrada 939 — and crashed into a plate-glass window at the Shaw Tower around 8 a.m.
Harris was performing a stunt for Domino, a character in the Marvel sequel played by actor Zazie Beetz.
According to her website, Harris got hooked on motorcycles after she rode on the back of a bike driven by a friend. She got her race licence in 2013 and began racing in 2014, and described herself as the first African-American woman to compete in an American Motorcyclist Association-sanctioned event.
The stunt was reportedly Harris’s first job in the movie industry.
WorkSafe B.C. is still investigating the death.
