Nova Scotia reported a new case of COVID-19 on Monday.

The new case, which was among 285 tests done Sunday, is in the central zone and is a close contact to a previously reported travel-related case.

But the number of total active cases now stands at five, down by one compared to yesterday, the Health Department said in a news release.

Three cases reported Friday - including two in the central zone - are connected to travel outside Atlantic Canada. Another case was diagnosed in another province, where the individual also recovered, but that person is a resident of Nova Scotia and lives in the eastern zone.

Also Monday the Nova Scotia Health Authority issued a flight-related advisory about potential exposure to COVID-19.

Air Canada 626 left Toronto for Halifax on Oct. 24 at 9:30 p.m. and landed in Halifax at 12:15 a.m.  Passengers in rows 18 to 24 seats A, B, C are more likely to have had close contact with the infected person.

Passengers in these seats are asked to call 811 for advice and to continue to self-isolate. People exposed to the virus on this flight could develop symptoms up to and including Nov. 7.

A similar advisory was issued Saturday related to a WestJet flight from Toronto to Halifax on Oct. 17. WJ 254 departed Toronto at 21:45 p.m. and landed in Halifax at 12:47 a.m.

People in rows 1 to 5 seats A, B, C, D are more likely to have had close contact.

Passengers on this flight could develop symptoms up to and including Oct. 31.

New Brunswick advisory

Public health also has advised Nova Scotians to avoid unnecessary travel to the Campbellton- Restigouche area of New Brunswick, where there has been an outbreak of COVID-19. The New Brunswick government reported two additional deaths on Sunday and three additional cases on Monday.

To date, Nova Scotia has 109,032 negative COVID-19 test results, 1,101 positives, 1,031 resolved cases and 65 deaths. No one is in hospital.
